The collection at all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses will be for the Diocesan Clergy Welfare Fund. This fund provides retirement and health care benefits to retired and infirmed priests in our Diocese. Our priests spend every day of their adult lives as humble and devoted servants, doing God’s work and serving us until age or infirmity calls them to retirement. Your contributions to the Clergy Welfare Fund make our priests’ retirement possible. Please share with them the generosity that they continue to share with us.
Christmas flower donations are used to purchase the poinsettias and greenery which is used to decorate the Cathedral for Christmas. If you would like to make a donation in memory/honor of a loved one, please use the Christmas Flower envelope included in the December envelope packet, donate through our Online Giving program by visiting our website at www.csalr.org, click ONLINE GIVING and Christmas Flowers will appear as the “Featured Fund”, or mail your donation to the Cathedral Office.
During the Seasons of Advent and Christmas, we are debuting Mass Leaflets. These leaflets will be available before all Masses and will more carefully integrate music and liturgical aspects of our weekend Masses. These leaflets will contain all the sung Mass parts, some of the congregational hymns, the responsorial psalm refrain, the alleluia, and other musical aspects. Occasionally, for example, the choir will sing an anthem in Latin: the leaflet will contain the original Latin text as well as the English translation. The leaflet will contain most of the spoken responses that the congregation says: the creed, several of the dialogues, and the occasional solemn blessing at the end of Mass; it will also contain the scripture readings and their responses. We hope that these Mass leaflets will make the liturgy more user friendly and be a good resource for visitors and non-Catholics who might visit the Cathedral during the holiday sea-son
